Know the details. Know what is involved in building the thing. This allows others to challenge, find missing components and create a common image which can be communicated with others.

Identify those components that act as a barrier to entry into your value chain.

Detailed description:
Identify those components that act as a barrier to entry into your value chain. The barrier is in form of some sort of high levels of physical, financial, knowledge, or social capital. The barriers tend to hide further down the value chain and are usually invisible to the consumer.
