Motivation:
Know the details. Know what is involved in building the thing. This allows others to challenge, find missing components and create a common image which can be communicated with others.

Illustrative description:
Identify those visible top-level components of the value chain that act as differentials.

Detailed description:
Identify those visible top-level components of the value chain that act as differentials. Differentials are the components where there is a qualitative difference between competitors. Differential allows the user to differentiate between us and our competitors. Such components will be in the genesis or custom built stage of evolution. Components in product or commodity/utility stage of evolution are not differentials.
